Soccer Betting Verdict: Inter Milan are pursuing their maiden Super Cup and they are the heavy favourites to clinch the title at BetUS Sportsbook, listed at -110.

They will have to do it under a new manager though as Jose Mourinho left Inter after leading them to Champion’s League glory for the richer pastures at Real Madrid.

The Italians are under new manager Rafael Benitez (released from his services at Liverpool last season). Benitez has big shoes to fill. Mourinho had a very successful stint with Inter. Inter were the first Italian club to win the treble Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia.

The fact that Rafa led Liverpool last season to their worst finish in almost 20 years and during his six-year tenure failed to end Liverpool’s League title drought doesn’t augur well. One has to wonder though how much of that was down to his management of the team and how much was down to the club’s owners and their financial woes.

Life in Inter Milan has started on a positive note for Rafa as his side won the Italian Super Cup last weekend, powering by AS Roma to the clubs first silverware on the season.

Next in his sights is the UEFA Super Cup as he hopes to guide Inter through a standout 2010~2011 season.

Not content to keep his ambitions under wraps, Rafa Benitez has issued a challenge to all and sundry to match him on success this season. (Perhaps a bit chuffed about the whole Liverpool saga.)

Atletico Madrid have never won the Super Cup either. They earned their place opposite Inter after beating Fulham in the Europa League final last season. The victory marked the end of a 14-year title drought for the Primera side.

On paper, Inter have the obvious edge however nobody is underestimating the Spaniards. The Spanish outfit is certainly optimistic about their chances. Striker Kun Aguero said as much.

“I see Atletico looking very well prepared to win the final. We are giving 100 percent in every training session," he said in an interview on the official club website
